Nigerian humanist and public commentator Ude Praise has waded into the wave of celebration following Arsenal’s latest victory, saying the result is “worth all the celebration after all these years.”

In a Facebook reaction to a post by Ikechukwu Obasi, Ude Praise tied the Gunners’ win to renewed optimism among fans, adding: “At least, Pa Atiku is hopeful now.”

The remark appears to reference former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who has over the decades contested and lost Presidential elections in Nigeria. Ude had joked that if Arsenal, a club that had long waited for major trophies could be victorious that there is renewed hope for Atiku Abubakar who has for decades longed to emerge the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Arsenal’s recent result has lifted spirits among the club’s Nigerian fanbase, who have endured years of near misses in the Premier League and European competitions.

In a post shared on his official media handle which has jocular reactions, Obasi wrote:

“I’m not an Arsenal fan but I congratulate them because of my towel. My girlfriend back in the glory days gifted me Arsenal towel. So I’m celebrating Arsenal’s victory because of my towel.”

Obasi, known for his commentary on legal and social issues, made the remark in a lighthearted tone as Arsenal supporters across Nigeria Jubilate over the club’s latest victory.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to the IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has lamented detention of one Mr. Chukwu Sunday Obasi by the operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS since March 2021 without trial, publicly calling for his immediate release from custody.

In a post on his official X handle, Ejimakor disclosed that Obasi was arrested “on mere suspicion of being #IPOB” and has since been held without access to lawyers or relatives.

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB is a non-violent self-determination seeking group founded and led by the jailed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The movement seeks the restoration of the defunct sovereign state of Biafra through civil disobedience and international lobbying mechanisms. The Federal government had secured an exparte order proscribing the group.

The proscription of IPOB still contested on appeal has been deployed as leeway to arrest and detain without trial suspected IPOB members. It has been alleged that the order has been weaponised by the DSS, the Army, the Police and other government agencies to label Igbo youths arrest them without trial.

Concluding his X post calling for Obasi’s immediate release, Ejimakor wrote:

“Please join me in publicly calling for his immediate release or at least presented in court to defend himself,” Ejimakor wrote, using the hashtag #FreeSundayObasi.

The DSS has not issued a statement on Obasi’s case as of press time. Ejimakor’s call adds to ongoing concerns from human rights groups and legal practitioners over prolonged pre-trial detention of individuals linked to separatist agitations in the South-East.

A Lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has raised critical questions over the dominance of foreign firms in Nigeria’s road construction sector after a recent observation that many ongoing projects are being executed by non-indigenous engineers.

In viral post on his official X handle, Ejimakor voiced out this concern following his travel across several States of the Nigeria’s federation, noting that a significant number of road contractors and engineers on site appeared to be white expatriates.

“What happened to our indigenous engineers? Is it that they’re not trained enough to build roads? Or is it self-discrimination? Where’s the national pride?” He quizzed.

The development has sparked heated debate over local content in public infrastructure. Critics argue that over-reliance on foreign contractors limits opportunities for Nigerian engineers and contractors, while proponents contend that foreign firms are often engaged due to technical capacity, funding arrangements, or project specifications tied to donor financing.

The Federal Ministry of Works and the Bureau of Public Procurement have, in the past, emphasised compliance with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act and similar local content policies, which mandate preference for indigenous firms where capacity exists.

As of press time, the Ministry of Works headed by Senator David Nweze Umahi has not responded to the concerns raised by Ejimakor. Industry stakeholders averred that a crucial review of current contract awards and the capacity of local engineering firms crucial to address the issue.

The Mgbom N’Achara Development Union, Okposi, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State, has constituted a community health committee chaired by a renowned public health management specialist, Dr. Laz Ude Eze and a dental technologist, Raphael Okereke as Secretary.

In a statement by the President General of Mgbom N’Achara Development Union (MADU), Barr. Philip Eze, he disclosed that the committee was constituted during its National Executive Committee (NEC) Stakeholders meeting held on Saturday April 4, 2026.

The Committee is to fill vacant positions and carry out responsibilities including development of community health plan, health promotion and other duties in line with the Ward Health Systems Policy 2018 and National Health Act 2014.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Eze expressed deep appreciation and thanked the community for the trust and confidence in him. He promised to work with his team to promote wellness and strengthen primary health care in the community.

Prince Kanu has publicly commended his brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the jailed IPOB leader for what he described as prophetic warnings about Nigeria’s current challenges.

In a statement reacting to Kanu’s earlier predictions, Prince Kanu wrote:

“Today, Nigerians have come to accept that you warned them about this unfolding disaster. You were subjected to ridicule and mockery, yet you persisted in speaking the truth. Humanity in this part of the world owes you a debt of apology. Your prophetic voice was the only one that foresaw the current challenges in Nigeria.”

Nnamdi Kanu in his broadcast on Radio Biafra had earlier warned of impending insecurity, unrest and untold economic hardship. Recently, the Nigeria’s state faces insecurity ranging from terrorism, banditry, and untold economic hardship. Recent reports emerged that teachers and pupils were reportedly kidnapped by suspected terrorists in Oyo School. A viral video of a mathematics teacher gruesomely murdered by the suspected terrorists had equally emerged, which coincides with the impending dooms predictions of the Biafra agitator, Kanu.

He concluded with a prayer: “May Elohim bless. Elohim, who called you, granted you insight to deliver his messages through.”

Recall that despite Kanu’s warning over the years, on radio broadcasts and public criticism of the Nigeria’s governance structure, security situation, and economic policies, there was no improvement. Rather he was accused of inciting violence. His supporters now argue that many of the issues he raised in his broadcasts, including rising insecurity, separatist agitations, and economic hardship, have become more pronounced in recent years.

Kanu was extraordinarily renditioned from Kenya to Nigeria in 2021 to resume his trial. Extraordinary rendition has been adjudged to violate both municipal and international laws. In 2025, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment over terrorism related charges.

Prince Kanu’s statement adds weights to the wave of commentary from IPOB supporters and sympathisers who say Kanu’s life sentence has not silenced his influence. Human rights groups and legal teams have continued to call for his release, citing the need for political solutions.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has criticised Memoir on Civil War, accusing its author, former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon of distorting history in his newly published memoir regarding the Nigerian Civil War.

In a viral post on his official X handle, Ejimakor faulted Gowon’s claim that Odumegwu Ojukwu “deliberately and effectively thwarted every effort” at peace. He argued that the assertion “presents a false history” and obscures Gowon’s “pivotal failures.”

Ejimakor singled out Gowon’s handling of the 1967 Aburi Accord as a key turning point. He wrote that after both leaders agreed in Ghana to a loose confederation to de-escalate tensions following the 1966 anti-Igbo pogroms, Gowon “succumbed to pressure from federal civil servants and British diplomats” and “unilaterally issued Decree No. 8, which stripped the core elements of the Aburi agreement.”

“By reneging on this signed framework, Gowon destroyed political trust, leaving the Eastern Region isolated and handing Ojukwu the political capital to declare secession in good faith,” Ejimakor stated.

He further criticised post-war policies, citing the “controversial £20 flat-payout given to Biafran bank depositors regardless of their pre-war savings” as an action that “deeply alienated the Igbo population, institutionalizing a sense of marginalization.”

Concluding his post, Ejimakor noted that Gowon’s administration “successfully preserved Nigeria’s geographic borders by force” but “failed to foster emotional or structural integration,” and that the memoir “reads less like an objective historical record but more like an effort to absolve his administration of its broken promises and strategic blunders.”

Gowon’s memoir has drawn renewed public debate over interpretations of the Nigerian – Biafra war codenamed Civil war which resulted in the death of over three million Igbo children, mostly from salvation. This controversy comes barely ten days to Biafra Remembrance Day announced by IPOB.

Recall that the IPOB leader, Kanu had announced through his special counsel, Ejimakor that he would unveil his pact with US former law maker and Activist Mike Arnold on the Biafra Remembrance Day. The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra had equally declared a sit at home in honour of the fallen Biafran heroes.

ABUJA– Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” has been released from detention, according to an announcement circulated by Human rights Activist, publisher and AAC Presidential Candidate Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement released by Sowore on his official Facebook page, it declared: “Justice Crack is out NOW. He is finally free from the unjust detention imposed by the lawless DSS. This victory belongs to all who spoke out, resisted intimidation, and demanded justice.”

Earlier today, Sowore had accused the DSS of withholding the passport and deliberately setting bail terms to prolong detention. A claim the DSS did not publicly respond to.

He added that he expects Justice Crack’s release “without further delay. If not, #RevolutionNow!”

In another Facebook update titled “NEW UPDATE ON @JUSTICECRACK’s BAIL PROCESS,” Sowore disclosed and wrote:

“Following our stern position this morning regarding the illegal seizure of Justice Chidiebere aka Justice Crack’s international passport by the lawless @OfficialDSSNG, the fascist Nigerian secret police agency has now released the passport to his lawyers, who are at the final stages of fulfilling his draconian bail conditions.”

The announcement did not specify the time of the release. Justice Crack’s lawyers have not yet made public statements on his release as at press time.

An Abuja based Human rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi has criticised the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers for responding to an incident of alleged gruesome murder by suspected terrorists involving their colleagues with the call for prayers and fasting rather than demanding government accountability.

In a post on his official X handle, Obasi wrote:

“Imagine the likeness. How many Africans, Nigerians, even educators think. Prayers & fasting over incident that requires holding the govt of the day accountable. Shame on Oyo NUT. Our school system caged by superstitious tutors.”

While reaction to the superstitious mentality of the vast majority of Nigerians as well as African educators, he also drew a link to a recent case in Abuja, adding:

“That’s why Abuja school permitted Tonto’s exorcism.”

Obasi’s position threw weight behind Kanu’s Lawyer Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and Inibehe Effiong who had earlier not just lambast the lack of call for accountability but has condemned call for prayers and fasting instead of protest and strike action.

Recall that it was the incident of Oyo school teachers kidnap by suspected terrorists that prompted the Oyo NUT’s decision to resort to fasting and prayer.

The Oyo State NUT has not publicly responded to his comments. The post adds weight to ongoing debate over the role of religious practices and advocacy strategies in Nigeria’s education sector response to security challenges.
