NBA Demands Urgent Action Over Missing NYSC Lawyer Eunice Ameh

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has urged the Inspector General of Police to swiftly deploy tactical and intelligence resources to secure immediate safe release of Miss Eunice Ameh, a young lawyer who is currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that recently went missing.
In a statement issued by NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the association described Ameh’s disappearance as a direct blow to the legal community.
“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association, it is personal,” Osigwe said. “We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams, and a collective duty to stand for one another.”
The NBA said Ameh’s case has “deeply shaken the entire legal community,” noting that behind every missing person report are families unable to sleep, friends clinging to hope, and colleagues praying for a safe return.
The association stressed that no Nigerian serving the country through NYSC should disappear “without an immediate, coordinated, and determined response from our security agencies.”
Osigwe urged the police to move beyond “routine assurances,” stating that “every passing hour matters, and every effort must count.” He also called on anyone with information to cooperate with authorities to ensure Ameh’s safe return.
The NBA said it stands firmly with Ameh’s family, friends, and colleagues during what it described as a painful time.
Ameh was reportedly serving her mandatory national service when she went missing. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance have not been made public by security agencies as of press time.
The NBA has previously intervened in cases involving the safety and rights of legal practitioners across Nigeria.
