Kanu’s Lawyer Condemns Attacks on Foreign Supporters, Warns It Undermines Agitation

ABUJA — The special counsel to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has cautioned against online attacks on foreign supporters of the freedom fighting cause, saying such behavior undermines the credibility of the movement.

In a Saturday post on his official X handle, Ejimakor reacted to derision directed at US activist Mike Arnold, who has publicly supported Kanu and his agitation.

“It’s not smart to attack a foreigner who volunteers to help in your fight against injustice or for your freedom,” Ejimakor wrote. “Trolling him makes you & the cause you pursue look ridiculous.”

He argued that foreign intervention often lends legitimacy to causes and can be decisive. “If you care to know, foreign support brings credibility to your cause & is often the game-changer,” he added.

Ejimakor’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between some pro-Biafra supporters online and foreign activists who have spoken out against Kanu’s ordeals. Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was subjected to extraordinary rendition to Nigeria in 2021 and currently faces life sentence after Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja found him guilty of terrorism related charges.

His conviction is currently being appealed by Kanu.The lawyer urged supporters to focus on building international solidarity rather than alienating allies through hostile rhetoric online.
