Missing Lawyer Found Unharmed Days After Mysterious Disappearance In Abuja

The Nigerian Lawyer who is currently undergoing her National Youth Service Corps NYSC in Abuja, Eunice Ameh, has been reportedly found unharmed days after she was declared missing in Abuja, bringing relief to her family, colleagues and members of the legal community who had expressed dismay over her disappearance.
Sources familiar with the matter confirmed the development to on Sunday morning, stating that the lawyer was found safe after days of uncertainty surrounding her disappearance.
She was last seen on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, before she was eventually found on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
“Eunice has been found unharmed this morning (Sunday),” a family source disclosed.
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding how she was found, where she was located, and the events leading to her disappearance had not yet been publicly disclosed.
The development came barely hours after the Nigerian Bar Association publicly demanded her immediate release and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure her safe return. Human Rights Lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi also criticised Nigeria’s state for failing to guarantee the security of the Corps member and a lawyer.
“No young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated, and determined response from our security agencies,” NBA read in part while urging on the Inspector General of Police to “urgently deploy all necessary tactical and intelligence resources toward securing Eunice’s safe release and ensuring that anyone connected to her disappearance is swiftly brought to justice.”
Before her discovery, Ameh’s disappearance had sparked widespread concern after she reportedly failed to return home from work in Abuja.
Family sources disclosed that the corps member recently began working as a Sales Manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd, a company located on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama, Abuja.
According to the family, she had resumed work with the company barely two weeks before she went missing and was also preparing to complete her NYSC programme.
“She works at Lake Chad Crescent with the company Blades and Butchers in Maitama. She is the Sales Manager for the company and she just started two weeks ago,” a source disclosed.
The source explained that Ameh was last seen at about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, while heading home after work toward the junction leading to Life Camp, where she resides in a corps members’ lodge.
Before she was found, family members had described the situation as traumatic and emotionally devastating.
“The family is distraught and in panic while they are hanging on to hopes of a police investigation getting her whereabouts,” a source had said.
Speaking on the female lawyer’s freedom, Nigerian Lawyer Festus Ogun in a post on his X handle on Sunday disclosed that ransom was paid to secure Ameh’s freedom, while using the incident to criticise the country’s worsening security situation.
Ogun wrote: “Eunice, the Abuja lawyer earlier abducted, has been freed, after payment of ransom. Those who support this incompetency of Bola Tinubu and the APC regime may continue. It’s Eunice, it could be anyone tomorrow.
“The security situation in the country is alarming. It makes me wonder really how this President sleeps at night. I think he doesn’t just give a damn.”
