WHEN YOU’RE A MANDELA

When you’re a Mandela,
When you’re a freedom fighter,
You conquered the world,
Like an elephant of earth.
Everything trembles when you roar like a lion,
The freedom of humanity your call of clarion.
You conquered everything except grief,
You couldn’t armour your girdles with the belief,
You will be betrayed.
All you loved and sacrificed for strayed.
You shielded your sword,
Letting loose the champion’s cord,
Creating chances when there is no chance,
Feeling love is a trance.
You can conquer oppression,
But you can’t elevate delusion
To unfettered affection.
When you’re a Mandela,
And have a Winnie, be a Nelson Mandela,
Let go and move on.
The cause has been betrayed,
The security dogs have strayed,
Everywhere is now insecure
