A social media exchange involving a National Youth Service Corps member known as “Raye” who faced persecution over her economy post has sparked debate after her Instagram posted photos where appeared in revealing outfits drew online criticism.
Raye, who recently spoke out about Nigeria’s economic hardship, posted pictures on Instagram wearing revealing dresses. The posts triggered debate and online backlash in her comment section, with several users criticising her appearance and linking it to her earlier remarks on the economy.
Among the comments, a user identified as a lawyer wrote in pidgin, “she should kukuma go naked na,” suggesting she might as well appear nude. The remark drew a sharp reply and generated further discussion on how lawyers and professionals are perceived on Facebook.
Reacting to the exchange, one user wrote: “People no really rate us for Facebook! Them dey see us like users wey no get sense. Ha! That aside, men will always and continue to cry when they see younger girls living a good life without marriage or childbearing and are not even interested in either of them.”
