‘The God of Africa Is the Bigger God’: Activist Ezeaku Slams Christianity, Cites Deuteronomy

Traditional religion activist Mathias Ezeaku has criticized Christianity and questioned its stance on freedom of worship, citing a passage from the Bible’s Book of Deuteronomy.
In his interview with Kaatruth, Ezeaku said: “If there will be a bigger God, the God of Africa is the bigger God. The one the European brought is fraud and small one. The evidence is there.”
He added: “Let me tell you, Bible never, Christians never believe in freedom of worship. just like what you are telling me, why can’t I allow Christian to practice their own this thing. is true I have never fought them with guns or machete or blow them or hold anybody not to go to church. I’m just preaching the world of chukwuokike abiama, in which if you read the Bible in Deuteronomy 12 from verse 1 down, Bible told the missionaries, go to the land I’m sending you, burn down where they worship their God under the tree, on top of the stone, on top of the mountain set them ablaze and I will give you that land as an inheritance.”
Ezeaku concluded: “Does such statement support freedom of worship?”
“Chukwuokike Abiama” refers to the supreme deity in Odinani, the traditional spiritual system of the Igbo people.
Deuteronomy 12:1-3 in the King James Version reads: “These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land… Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree… and burn their groves with fire.” The passage is part of instructions given to the Israelites regarding Canaan.
Christian organizations have not issued a response to Ezeaku’s comments as of press time.
