UK College Nominates Dr. Laz Ude Eze for Alumni Global Award

An Igbo-born Nigerian public health physician and activist Dr. Laz Ude Eze has been nominated for the Alumni Global Impact Award by the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, USA.
The nomination was announced by the university’s College of Public Health, where Dr. Eze obtained a Master’s in Public Health in 2013. According to the Alumni Coordinator, Jillian Faith, Dr. Eze was selected because he is “the most deserving” of the award.
The award recognizes alumni whose careers have featured significant work outside the United States, resulting in outstanding contributions to their communities or professions in global contexts. It also honors those who have promoted inter-cultural communication, international peace and security, and sustainable international development.
Dr. Eze graduated with distinction from the MPH Health Policy and Management program and the Graduate Certificate in Global Health program, earning multiple awards. He served as President of the University of Kentucky Student Public Health Association in 2012.
He is also the host of _TalkingHealthWithDrLaz_, a popular health program on AIT.
Reacting to the news, bestselling author of Physics in Igbo Language Mazi Ogbonnaya Okoro credited him for facilitating his appearance on _TalkinghealthwithDrLaz_ as a sign language interpreter. The platform, he said, later opened doors for his American Sign Language interpretation at the African Economic Congress 2020, where he interpreted over 42 speeches from ambassadors, CBN governors, state governors, African presidents, and bank managing directors.
“Na my oga be this. I am very proud of him. In all, his humility. In all, he’s my brother from Ọkpọsị, Ebọnyị State,” Mazi Okoro said.
Dr. Eze’s nomination places him among alumni recognized for advancing public health and global citizenship beyond U.S. borders.
