Court Grants Substituted Service In ₦200 M Suit Against Tonto Dikeh, Adjourns to May 11
The FCT High Court has granted an application for substituted service in the ₦200 million fundamental-rights suit filed by human-rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi against Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh over the viral “exorcism” of a secondary-school girl.
The case, which was slated for hearing on April 1, 2026, saw Obasi’s legal team move a motion ex parte after an attempt to serve Dikeh personally on March 30 failed.
Obasi, who had earlier disclosed on X that he had been served a hearing notice by the court, told the court that personal service could not be effected and asked for leave to serve by alternative means.
The court agreed and granted the application and adjourned to May 11, 2026 for continuation of hearing. Obasi may now serve the processes via Dikeh’s email addresses and/or publication in a national newspaper.
Obasi welcomed the ruling, saying, “The good news today is that the court graciously agreed with our application… Justice must prevail.” He was represented at the hearing by O. C. Ogbu and C. E. Okoro.
