No Kanu’s Release, No 2027 Chances, Kanu’s Counsel Warns Southeast Politicians

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has admonished Southeast politicians to prioritise Kanu’s release, warning those eyeing the 2027 elections that failure to secure Kanu’s release “will ruin your chances.”

In a widely circulated post on his official X handle, Ejimakor stated: “Southeast politicians, aspiring to contest the 2027 elections should bear this in mind: If MAZI NNAMDI KANU is not freed in the near term, it will ruin your chances in the 2027 elections. Don’t ask me how.”

He further added: “The same fate awaits President Tinubu, because SE will remember.”

Ejimakor’s comments link the political fortunes of Southeast aspirants and President Bola Tinubu to the incarceration status of the Indigenous People of Biafra leader, who was jailed for life on November, 2025 by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja.

There was no immediate response from the Presidency or Southeast political stakeholders at press time.
