‘The Only INEC Chairman Nigerians Will Trust’: Activist Backs Prof. Nnenna Otti for National Role

Media personality and political activist Harry Da Diegot has commended the impeccable integrity of Professor Nnenna Otti and described her as “the only INEC Chairman Nigerians will trust,” while citing her credibility and integrity during elections in Abia State.
In a widely circulated post on his official X handle, Harry Da Diegot praised Prof. Otti’s record, and wrote: _“She did it in Abia, she can do it nationwide.”_
The post acknowledged Prof. Otti’s role in upholding electoral integrity and unequivocally suggested that she possesses the credibility needed to lead the Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission at the national level.
Prof. Nnenna Otti, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, served as the Returning Officer during the Abia State governorship election in 2023. She received widespread public commendation for her firm stance on result collation and transparency during the polls, a move many observers said helped protect the mandate of voters in Abia state.
Harry Da Diegot’s update comes amidst distrust of the opposition and some Nigerian citizens for the current INEC Chair whose integrity and credibility they have questioned. The post also adds to ongoing public conversations about electoral reform and public trust in Nigeria’s election management body. Calls for appointees with proven records of impartiality have equally intensified ahead of 2027 polls.
